New look & feel for SQLServerPedia
For the last several months, we’ve been focusing on the plumbing at SQLServerPedia. We put an infrastructure in place that could support the things we wanted to accomplish, like:
- User-updated wiki pages so people could actively update articles when they had something to add
- Blog syndication so that bloggers could get more readers and so readers could have a single place to find new bloggers
- Video podcasts so anyone can download short video presentations for training, complete with a Youtube-style interface to watch multiple related videos in a row
I’ve learned more about MediaWiki, WordPress, video codecs and RSS feeds than I ever wanted to know. I drew the line at trying to make the whole thing look good, because that’s way outside of my talent range. I know just enough about Photoshop to know that I don’t know anything about Photoshop.
Enter the web team at Quest Software. They just unveiled a new look for SQLServerPedia including a home page that helps us sum up what’s going on with the site and a better search interface. I’m excited - I think it looks awesome, and I want to thank everybody who’s been involved with the site so far. The good stuff just keeps comin’.
