I need just the client tools installation to be public. I want to be able to leave the installation files in a place that my developers can get to it and install themselves. I do not want them to be able to install a full blown local SQL Server just the tools. Any suggestions?

Interesting question! I haven’t seen a way of doing that, but you might try posting that question on http://ServerFault.com where there’s more sysadmins. They may be used to doing installations like that. Hope that helps!
